Stormy weather pursues us on tomato pickup day. At least the looming rain clouds produced no hail this year. Whatever the weather, it is always a very exciting day that marks the beginning of a new tomato season.
When James puts out his list in February, we spend snowed-in days pouring over tomato descriptions trying to determine which plants to grow in the coming year. When it comes time to pick up our plants, James has a few ideas about one or two we overlooked. This year, it was Cowlick’s Brandywine. Farmer J had ruled it out thinking that she had her favorite Brandywine in Sudduth’s Strain. But James, after extensive research, thought we should give it a try. We look forward to the experiment!
