Irrigation Station

With the promise of yet another hot summer, we’ve decided to invest in a drip irrigation system. With as many plants as we grow, our bucket brigade method gets a little tiresome as temperatures rise.

James Worley has long encouraged us to take the plunge, so we headed over to see the way it works in his garden.  His setup is impressive.  Connected to his four rain barrels, the tubing conveys water to his entire garden. A single turn of the faucet waters his entire tomato crop in one hour. Sign us up!

James suggests the the DripWorks – Heart of the Garden Drip Irrigation Kit which gives you enough components to begin the process. Once you have the basics, you can add on to suit the unique plan of your garden.

Of course, a visit to James is not complete without a stroll through his amazing garden. Since we stopped by last month, his plants have flourished and his carts are loaded with heirloom tomato seedlings.

While it is too late to pre-order, James has plenty of extra plants. Here are the varieties he offers this season.
