The Tomato Man of Kansas City, Mr. James Worley, has posted his tentative seed list for 2010 at http://kctomatotimes.wordpress.com/ Get your orders in. Farmer J has already put together her wish list. We’ll plant at least 40 this year, dropping a few of the non-productive varieties and adding some new ones.
For all you hippies out there, we’ll be growing this variety:
Berkeley Tie Die: This rare and exotic fruit with big, bold, luscious flavors looks just like its name implies with spectacular showy streaks and swirls of green and yellow, red and orange, with green and red patterning inside and out.
Red tomatoes are boring tomatoes, and you know we like to get our fruity freak on, so we’ll also be planting:
Mr. Stripey (Tigerella): Huge crops of red fruits with clearly defined yellow-orange stripes.
Aunt Ruby’s German Green: Large green beefsteaks ripen to pale green with a tint of yellow and have a pink blush underneath that extends inside the flesh.
Only four months left until planting season.
Now, back under the blankets.

You two crack me up! That black tomato/basil portrait made me drool!
You got me, I’m growing freak tomatoes this year.
Welcome to the addiction.
I love your tomato-art photos. I grow and sell heirloom tomato plants in California and would love to use one or two of your photos on a postcard. I’m not sure if you can get my email from this reply or not. If you can, please contact me to discuss this. Thanks.
