The Orioles Swing Through Town

A Blast of Color!

We have been running to the windows since Farmer T spotted the first Baltimore Oriole.  They’ve been a welcome splash of color these rainy, spring days.  The Oriole at left is an Orchard Oriole.  Not as colorful as his bright orange cousin, the Baltimore Oriole, both birds have been fun to watch.  We’ve had as many as five different males feeding from the small crock of grape jelly and sliced oranges Farmer J left out for them.

A Female Baltimore Oriole

The females Orioles are handsome birds in their own right.  And we can’t help but wonder if they plan to take up residence in the neighborhood since we have seen several birds gathering nesting material.
